What’s the best golf ball for you? Most golfers spend time on the driving range working on their swing, searching for clubs that improve their distance off the tee box, and which irons produce more spin etc. It’s rare for the average golfer to get “Fitted” for the best golf ball for their game. I just recently for the first time did get a golf ball fitting and wish I had done so much earlier! For years / decades I simply used balls that I found on the course. This was great for my wallet but didn’t realize how much better my game could have been if I used the correct ball for me.
A good place to start is to visit a retailer like PGA Superstore, Golf Galaxy or any other major golf retailer. They will offer a large selection of balls and more than likely have knowledgeable employees that can help. Most major outlets will also have a place to actually hit balls and let you see the results. You will probably be surprised on how much difference there is!
If you are a low handicapper it’s pretty easy to determine you need a premium ball such as Titleist Pro V1, Callaway chrome soft etc. But if your a double digit handicapper like me you may find that the best ball is something less expensive such as Vice or Callaway super soft etc. Finding the right ball for you can not only shave a few strokes off your game, but also save you a few dollars that can be spent at the 19th hole!!
